Types of Laminating Machine

The laminating machines produced by our company mainly include the following types:

Thermal Lamianting Machine

A thermal lamination machine is a versatile piece of equipment that can be used in a variety of settings, from schools and offices to print shops and production facilities. While it is a durable and reliable machine, it still needs to be properly maintained to ensure optimal performance. Thermal lamination is the process of bonding two pieces of material together using heat and pressure. This can be done with a variety of materials, but the most common are plastics.

Paper Lamination Machine

A laminator machine is an electronic device that is used to protect and preserve paper documents, photos, or other materials by covering them with a thin plastic film. The laminator works by heating the plastic film, which is then applied to the surface of the material to be laminated using pressure and adhesive. The resulting laminate is waterproof, durable, and resistant to tearing, smudging, or fading. Laminator machines may come in various sizes and capabilities, from small, portable units designed for home or office use to larger, industrial-grade machines used for high-volume laminating tasks.

Features of Laminating Machine

Reverse Button

Mis-feeds are bound to happen when laminating. The easiest way to fix a laminator jam before or after it happens is by reversing the rollers to remove the document before it can do any damage.

Variable Temperature

Having control of your machine’s temperature allows you to fine-tune settings to get the best lamination results every time, no matter what film you are using.

Variable Speed

Similar to adjusting temperature, having the ability to adjust your laminating speed allows you to find the setting that gives you the best finish.

Cold & Hot Capability

If you are looking for a versatile machine, one that can handle both thermal & pressure-sensitive laminating will allow you to use almost any laminating film.

Automation

If you are planning on laminating large batches all at once, an automatic laminator might be a necessary addition to your workflow. These laminators allow you to set it and forget it as it laminates and trims in bulk while you work on something else.

Applications of Laminating Machine

Laminating Documents
This is one of the most popular laminator uses. People laminate all sorts of documents to protect them from abrasion, spills and stains or smudges. Laminated documents last longer, look more presentable, and a host of other benefits such as protection from forgery.

Laminating Photos
Many people keep photos of loved ones that they may want protected from aging. A laminator helps achieve that by covering the photos with a polymer film. The photo laminator is often a desktop machine that does not use heat so as not to cause damage to the ink. A photo lamination machine will also often be a pouch type.

Laminating Cards
You can easily laminate cards or card-like items such as postcards, student cards, ID badges, and citizen identification cards. Laminating ID cards makes them look more professional, in addition to increasing their thickness and lifespan. Laminating business cards, too, and other types of cards such as those used in events or occasions.

Laminating Maps
Laminating maps helps keep them in good condition for a long time. These can be maps for schools, maps showing pre-determined escape routes in a large building, or even personal travel maps. If you’re laminating large maps, a wide format laminator machine is required.

Laminating Banners
A laminator for posters or banners is a large-format device capable of laminating wide media. Laminating banners and posters protects them from damage in outdoor conditions. When the laminating sheet is UV-resistant, it also helps to shield the poster from the effects of the sun such as fading.

Safety Precautions When Using Laminating Machine

1

Remove items that shouldn’t be laminated from the input shelves. The only items that should be on the input shelves are the lamination film and the materials that are to be laminated.

2

Laminate within the maximum size limits for lamination materials. Every laminator model is different, so be sure to review your user manual for size limitations.

3

Keep pets and children away from the machine when it’s in use.

4

Take away all beverages and other liquids you find on the table where the laminating machine sits. If a spill has already occurred, turn off the machine and unplug it. The same holds true if you smell smoke or any unusual odour coming from the machine.

5

Cover moving parts with machine safety guards if you have an industrial grade-laminating machine. Do everything you can to reduce accidents.

6

Avoid placing foreign objects in the machine or between the rollers. Poking with pens, scissors or letter openers to remove jams can ruin the equipment and lead to costly repairs.

7

Wait at least 30 minutes after a jam to allow time for the machine to cool down. Hot parts can cause serious burns. If the jam is hidden where you can’t see or locate the problem, or if the machine remains too hot to touch, don’t risk injury. Call a professional to analyse the situation and fix the jam safely.

FAQ

Q: What to know when buying a laminator?

A: Document Size. Think of the documents you'll be laminating.
Number of Sheets. Consider how often you laminate and the amount of documents you will run at a time.
Film Thickness. Laminating film is measured in mil.
Number of Users.
Cost.

Q: What not to do with a laminator?

A: Don't use in Hazardous areas, near water, while drinking, eating, or where small children can reach. Don't feed empty or partially filled pouches. Don't feed anything except Paper products through the Laminator.

Q: What size laminator do I need for regular paper?

A: As a guide, most people need to laminate A4 paper (normal size printer paper) almost all the time but also need to process A3 occasionally. This means that the trend in sales is towards A3 machines, which enables people to deal with these two key sizes.

Q: Can you put cardstock in a laminating machine?

A: You can laminate thicker paper, just make sure you pair it with a thinner laminate pouch. Construction paper and cardstock should be laminated with 3mil. Also, do not cut laminating pouches before lamenting or they will get stuck in the laminator and melt!

Q: How to safely use a laminator?

A: Load the laminating film (or insert your paper into a laminating pouch)
Turn on and preheat the laminator.
Prep the paper.
Feed the paper into the machine.
Don't turn off the feed right away.
Cut the laminating film.
Trim your project.
Turn off the laminator.

Q: Can a laminator get too hot?

A: The high heat generated by a hot laminator can damage some materials, inks, and colours. To protect documents from the impact of heat, special plastic laminates can be used.
